Interdisciplinarity in research on antiquity. The Roman Army: its Equipment, Development and Heritage as an Example of Multidisciplinary Studies 2900-HAMC-INTER
Different ways of understanding the concept of interdisciplinarity in historical research; the importance of interdisciplinarity in the study of political history, intellectual history, culture and religion in antiquity; relations between the history of antiquity and related sciences (e.g., history of art, history of philosophy, archaeology, philology); combining various types of sources available for a given period (literary, archaeological, numismatic, epigraphic, papyrus sources) and the methodology related to the criticism of these sources in solving specific research problems; the importance and organization of interdisciplinary teams in the research on antiquity.

Assessment criteria
Each class commences with a short introductory statement by the teacher. Afterwards, based on the introduction and one or several publications that were provided beforehand, the class discusses the various aspects of the topic at hand.
Based on attendance – no more than 3 absences in a semester are allowed. Active participation in conversations during the course is subject to final grading.
