(in Polish) Archeologia Rzymu I (wykład) 2800-PO-ARI-W
The course presents the main stages in the development of the ancient Roman Civilization, based on its material achievements. This particular part of the course covers, with some exceptions, the period from the beginning of Rome till the first century A.D. The main problems to be discussed are: the urbanization of Latium in the first half of the first millennium B.C., with Rome as the developing center; Rome under the influence of the Etruscans, Greeks and Mid-Italic tradition; the hellenization of Italy in the period of the Roman expansion in the East in the second and the first centuries B.C. The technological and artistic achievements of this period will be of special interest. The next important stage for the development of the Roman architecture, art and crafts is the reign of Augustus and the Julio-Claudian dynasty, when the standards of the imperial monumental architecture (fora, temples, triumphal arches, mausolea, baths) and art (portraiture, relieves) - the bearers of the imperial propaganda - were established.
