The classes are aimed at showing the history of cultural institutions in connection with the development and civilization needs of individual countries or regions of Europe. The oldest Polish and Polish diaspora organizations and the cultural institutions they have created, including the Polish Library in Paris, the Library and School on Batignolles, the Polish Museum in Rapperswil, and other institutions selected by students at the beginning, will be subject to a special analysis. classes. The socio-historical changes taking place in the 19th century will be the background for a comprehensive discussion of the activities of selected Polish and European cultural institutions. Selected examples will show the historical continuity of cultural institutions, their importance in the civilization development of the state, and the most distinguished creators and activists.

After completing the course, students:
Knowledge
• Knows and understands various ways of understanding culture as the subject scope of the sciences of cultural heritage institutions, the theory, methodology and terminology of the functioning of GLAM sector institutions and the use of new media, as well as their place in the humanities system, its subject and methodological specificity, system of sciences and relations to other disciplines.
Skills
• Has research skills covering the formulation and analysis of research problems, the selection of research methods and tools, the development and presentation of research results in the GLAM sector.
• Can identify the constituent parts of culture, carry out a critical analysis and interpretation in order to create a collection in the area of cultural heritage, organize exhibitions and presentations with the use of new media and a foreign language.
Other competences
• Has a sense of responsibility for the protection and preservation of cultural heritage, actively participates in cultural life, using the available opportunities.
Assessment criteria
Continuous assessment based on substantive preparation for classes and activity during classes. Final written or oral exam.
The condition for passing the classes is obtaining a sufficient number of attendance and activity, and obtaining a positive result in the final exam.
It is not possible to correct positive ratings.
