Polish media system 2700-L-DM-D3PSME
Subject matter includes the knowledge of the organization, structure and functioning of the modern media system in Poland, with particular emphasis on its evolution since 1989 as well as its future development. The following issues are discussed: the press (dailies and magazines), distribution, public and commercial broadcasting, public and commercial television, the National Broadcasting Council, press agencies. Different media types are treated as permanent elements of the system. Particular emphasis is placed on presenting a number of economic conditions, socio-political and cultural, in which various media institutions operate. Much attention is devoted to specific issues related to the process of transformation of the modern media system and its social consequences (e.g. commercialization of media content).

Assessment criteria
During the exam the student should demonstrate knowledge of the legal basis, structure and organization and principles of functioning of the Polish media as a whole.
