Polish Culture through film 2700-ERASMUS-PCTF
The course consists of 10 classes (each 180min long) hence it is overall worth 8 ECTS. The course is focused on introducing selected specific phenomena of Polish Culture and History to Foreign Students.
We examine such topics as:
Myths and Legends on origins of Polish State,
Golden Age of Noble Freedom,
XIX century – Landed Gentry, Peasantry… and struggles for Independence,
II World War and first years of Communism,
Subversive Strategies of Comedies,
Lech Wałęsa John Paull II and contemporary Polish Democracy issues,
Phenomenon of „Polish Film School”,
Contemporary Masters of Polish Cinema

After completing the course students:
- KNOW most significant topics in Polish Culture
- KNOW important masterpieces of Polish cinema
- ARE ABLE to describe the works of selected Polish Filmmakers
- DEVELOP their visual and interpreting skills
Assessment criteria
Class attendance.
Test based on knowledge/movies presented during classes.
