Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course student will be able to:
evaluate scientific support of psychological treatments.
detect pseudoscience in the field of clinical psychology.
explain the notion of evidence-based practice in psychology and its significance in diagnostic and therapeutic clinical work.
understand the importance of scientific and clinical research in advancement of knowledge of clinical psychology.
list different empirically supported and unsupported interventions and treatments for different psychological and mental health problems.
thoroughly account for, analyze and critically reflect around current research and debates within clinical psychology, especially about different models of how to view the self and personality, diagnosis of personality disorders and the effectiveness of different psychological interventions and modes of psychotherapy.
describe in detail the notion of inner multiplicity and the theory of the dialogical self and understand the clinical implications of differences between understanding personality and mental processes from inner multiplicity perspective and the traditional, trait approach.
understand thoroughly theoretical assumptions, level of scientific evidence, goals, as well as areas of potential use of dialogical interventions and be able to carry them out.
