Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
1. Identify the major classes of medications used to treat mental illness.
2. Explain the modes of action of psychotropic medications.
3. Appraise the evidence for the efficacy of psychotropics in the
treatment of various mental health disorders.
4. List the most commonly marketed psychotropic drugs in Europe and
the regulatory bodies governing their use.
5. Describe how to integrate psychopharmacology with psychotherapy
in treatment for psychological disorders.
6. Evaluate the role of psychotropic medications in society and culture.
