Spatial analyzes in economic research 2400-PP3SL288B
The aim of the course is to prepare students to write a bachelor's thesis that meets all the formal requirements for such work. The expected effect is a bachelor's thesis.
The topics of the classes will include the use of statistical and econometric tools, including spatial econometric models and machine learning algorithms, in modeling spatial and socio-economic phenomena. Both theoretical aspects of the models and practical problems arising during estimation and interpretation will be analyzed.
The first classes of the subject will be devoted to discussing the requirements for bachelor theses and the scope of the topic of the seminar. The next classes will consist of the presentation of abstracts, literature reviews, work progress and results by the participants of the seminar.
Classes are intended for undergraduate students.
In particular, the subject of bachelor theses may include:
- modeling the processes of regional and local convergence
- modeling regional and local inequalities
- modeling migration at the regional and local level
- use of satellite data (night-time lights intensity and high-resolution daytime images) to model socio-economic phenomena at the regional and local level.
