"During the lecture following issues are presented: the principles concerning the status of individuals (freedoms, rights and obligations), organisation of the judiciary (courts and tribunals), organs of state control and for defence of rights (Supreme Chamber of Control, Ombudsman), elections, executive power (President and Council of Ministers). Lecture also covers legal problems concerning local government and public finances.
Classes in groups are aimed at developing students’ knowledge on issues presented on the lecture. Furthermore, during classes some exemplary practical problems are analysed. In the course of classes students are also inspired to discuss, interpret normative acts, as well as to solve constitutional problems."

Learning outcomes
After the completion of the course students:
- explain terms and characterize institutions of constitutional law
- present legal norms stemming from the Constitution and some other normative acts covered by the education plan
- interpret constitutional provisions
- apply appropriate methods of interpreting the Constitution
- explain aims and functions of particular institutions of Polish political system
- explain legal significance of competences of public institutions
- identify legal problems concerning constitutional law and formulate solutions thereof
- analyze, in a methodologically correct manner, practical problems and case-law concerning the Constitution
- interpret legal provisions taking into consideration norms stemming from the Constitution
- formulate individual opinions in discussions concerning constitutional issues
Assessment criteria
Final examination.
