Diploma seminar 2200-EU019
The objective of this seminar is to equip students with the necessary skills to select a research topic, formulate a master's thesis title, compile a comprehensive bibliography, and ultimately prepare and write their master's thesis. The seminar's content primarily focuses on the presentation and discussion of subjects related to the chosen thesis topics by the students. Furthermore, it addresses elements of research methodology in the social sciences and humanities, particularly in the context of energy research. This encompasses key concepts of social research methodology, scientific reasoning principles, and the distinction between basic and applied research. The seminar also explores fundamental paradigms within the social sciences, highlighting the distinctive aspects of research in the humanities. Additionally, it covers principles for preparing a literature review, formulating research questions and hypotheses, methods for selecting research subjects, research designs, and the collection of quantitative and qualitative data. Basic models for analysing collected data are also explored. Lastly, the seminar provides guidance on principles for preparing presentations and scientific texts.
