Energy and Climate Case-law 2200-EU018
The primary objective of this course is to facilitate a comprehensive and interactive exploration of significant judgments pertaining to climate and energy law. Students will primarily concentrate on the rulings issued by the European Union courts, particularly the Court of Justice of the European Union, whose jurisprudence holds the status of a legal source. Additionally, noteworthy judgments from national courts, concerning climate and energy law cases within the European Union framework, will also be extensively discussed. The course adopts a collaborative and interactive approach, encouraging group participation and engagement.

Knowledge: the graduate knows and understands
concepts of energy and climate law and the most relevant EU and national legal acts;
economic conditions related to energy transformation;
the most relevant regulatory measures and the objectives they serve, the characteristic of regulatory authorities;
the position and roles of relevant authorities in the energy sector enshrined in energy and climate law;
rule on the energy market and EU emission trading system;
rules on administrative and judicial procedures in the energy sector;
multidimensionality of climate law including scientific and political conditions;
synergies and difference in climate and energy law;
Skills: the graduate is able to
define concepts of energy and climate law and indicate the most relevant EU and national legal acts;
analyse on its own issue related to energy transformation in terms of its legal land economic aspects;
indicate the most relevant regulatory measures and the objectives they serve, as well as the characteristic of regulatory authorities;
name the position and roles of relevant authorities in the energy sector enshrined in energy and climate law;
explain the basics of anthropogenic basis of climate change and the rules governing climate and its change;
prepare and present in English, deemed to be the most relevant language in the domain covered by the studies, well documented assessment of problems related to energy and climate law;
prepare legal texts, use legislative technique;
is able to use English to the extent that allows for independent completion of education and communication with specialists in the same or related specialization, in accordance with the requirements set out for level B2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
is skilled in the use of professional press, vocabulary, signs, abbreviations on specific issues in energy and climate law;
use communication skills appropriate to challenges related to energy and climate law;
