The lecture is dedicated to describe and explain the following subject matter:
1. Social law, social protection, social security. Techniques and methods of regulation used. Legal systems of social protection. Types of benefits and the sources of financing them.
2. Family support benefits (child-support benefit and good start; parental benefit)
3. Income support: family benefits, accomodation allowances and apartment for start, alimony allowances, social pension and other long-term benefits for disabled and old-age persons, accidents in specific circumstances, benefits for the victims of crimes
4. Social assistance. Disability.
5. Social insurance systems (general and for farmers): principles, affiliation, social security contributions.
6. Long-term social security benefits (pensions).
7. Short-term social security benefits (allowances).
8. Health insurance. Promotion of employment. Social activity of employers. Protection of the employees’ claims in the event of insolvency of their employer.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student knows basic rules of searching adequate legal acts regarding social and economic relationships regarding social matters and search statistical data regarding labour market and social matters.
Student is able to cooperate and work in a group, assuming various roles, in particular to recognise the rules of the relationship between applicants and social protection institutions.
The student correctly uses the legal systems and selected norms and rules (legal , professional, moral) in order to solve a given task within the scope of public administration organisation, the student recognises various forms of social protection and knows principles and assumptions of their application procedures, the students perceives the relation between rights and duties of the persons entitled to benefits and knows the bases of their liability.
The student recognises trends of development of the social law and their political, economic and social conditionality, is able to indicate axiological and practical dilemmas in the work of a public administration employee.
Assessment criteria
Assessment is based on a written test (open and one-answer type closed questions) assessing the level of knowledge reached by the student, within the scope of the lecture, taking into consideration the ability to apply the knowledge gained to specific situations and the presentation of the student’s opinion on the matters covered.
