The subject to be lectured refers to basic issues concerning international legal protection of environment. The substantial scope of the subject encompasses:
1. Introduction to the subject of environemntal policy and law.
2. The environment and international law – defining terms and notions.
3. Axiology of the environmental governance law.
4. Sources and instruments of environmental law.
5. System of the international environmental governance.
6. Principles of international environmental law.
7. Compliance issues.
8. Liability for environmental damage.
9. Sanctions and solutions of disputes.

Learning outcomes
After completion of the course the student will know:
- the elements of the system of international governance of environment;
- what are legal requirements and implementation measures (analyses of multilateral international environmental treaties);
- common legal principles of environmental law;
- how to examine the international courts decisions pertaining to environmental issues.
