International Cultural Relations 2104-UPIR-D3ICRE
The aim of the course is to discuss the key concepts, theories and phenomena that fall under the scope of international cultural relations as an area of international relations. During the course the discussion will focus on the interplay between culture and international politics and the role of culture as an important factor that influences international relations will be shown. It will also address selected issues connected with legal framework for international cultural cooperation and the processes of institutionalization of this cooperation in the global (UNESCO) and regional (the EU and the Council of Europe) dimensions. The questions of protection of cultural heritage, cultural determinants of conflicts, soft power and cultural diplomacy will be analysed during the course. Attention will be given to exercises that develop analytical skills of participants of the course.
