5. Theoretical reflection on conduct of contemporary armed conflicts - "new war" theories (M. Kaldor, H. Muenkler); risk-transfer war (M. Shaw), "war amongst the people" (R. Smith)
6. Technology and war (impact on strategies and methods of conflict; RMA and its problems and implications; new means of destructionand warfare (UAV, cyberweapons)

Learning outcomes
After completion of the course, the participant should:
- know and be able to use correctly basic terminology of conflict studies and conflict resolution(K-W02; K_W04,; KW_05; K_W06)
- know, understand and be able to apply adequately main theoretical concepts concerning sources of armed conflicts, their conduct and resolution; understand the problem of privatisation of violence and impact of technological on armed conflicts' evolution (K-U01; K_U02; K-U05)
- be able to assess results of amred conflicts an d effectivenes of actions directed on their resolution. (K_K01; K-K02)
