Organization and functioning of German foreign service 2104-M-D2SRFN-DW
The aim of the seminar is to present students the organization and working methods of the German foreign ministry. Students should know the constitutional framework for the German activity in international relations and the role of the foreign ministry in the context of the activity of other offices and institutions of the public live in Germany.
1. Concepts of German foreign policy: civil power, trading power, geoeconomic power, etc.
2. Multilateralism and bilateralism in German foreign policy. Transatlantic partnership, partnership with France, and European integration
3. China: a new partner in the 21st century?
4. Economic aspects in German foreign policy
5. Foreign cultural and educational policy
6. The role of the energy sector in Germany's foreign policy : Germany-Russia partnership
7. Poland in Germany's foreign policy

Assessment criteria
Exam: 2 open questions, 2 minutes
For students with ITS: Research paper: 24000-40000 symbols. Text structure: Introduction, 3-4 chapters, conclusions and bibliography. The introduction must include: research question/ research hypothesis, description of methodology, literature overview, theory.
