Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student:
- has knowledge about selected social dialogue institutions in Poland, the European Union and the world;
- has knowledge of the norms and rules organizing social dialogue in Poland;
- based on the knowledge and skills acquired during professional internships, is able to assess processes related to social dialogue at the workplace level;
- is able to critically assess the effectiveness of social dialogue institutions at the workplace level;
- the student is ready to create principles of operation of the social dialogue mechanism at the workplace level in order to solve problems that may arise in this area.
The classes are intended to ensure the implementation of the following learning outcomes specified in the study program:
K_W02 – the student knows and understands social bonds built in the context of work, as well as the norms and rules of social life that arise on their foundation.
K_W03 – the student knows and understands theories describing the norms and rules organizing work and the labor market, as well as the social structures and institutions created on their basis; knows their sources, understands the conditions and consequences of their use in the areas of practical and professional activity.
K_U04 - the student is able, based on the knowledge and skills acquired during internships, to assess and manage the processes taking place in the field of work and on the labor market, being aware of the normative nature of the choices made.
K_K02 - the student is ready to critically evaluate his/her knowledge and take into account the opinions of experts in determining priorities in the implementation of specific tasks.
K_K04 - the student is ready to take an active attitude towards the world around him, including initiating activities for the public interest, appropriately planning the tasks he undertakes and solving problems occurring during their implementation.
Assessment criteria
Registration of activity of participants of classes in stationary form or via Google Meet chat and statements as part of brainstorming, use of the scenario method, case study. Taking into account the level of knowledge of readings relating to particular topics of classes.
Assessment based on three elements: (1) level of activity during classes conducted stationary or online, (2) discussion conducted in teams of 2 to 3 people (divided into two parties: trade union, employer) - preparation of a presentation based on topics discussed during the classes, (3) preparation and presentation of a paper (in stationary or online form).
Topics that will be discussed by teams (from 2 to 3 people in a team, division of the issue into two analyzed sides: trade union, employer) during the discussion:
- Diagnosis of the position and place of social dialogue in the workplace strategy
- Survey for employees regarding working conditions, pay, expectations
- Trade union activities in the workplace - the perspective of trade unionists/employees and the perspective of the employer
- Model of consultations between employees and the employer at the workplace in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic
- Identification of areas that may cause collective disputes in the workplace (union perspective and employer perspective)
- Provincial Council for Social Dialogue - presentation of the state of social dialogue in a given industry in the voivodeship
- Development of leadership competences of trade unionists in a given workplace - training proposal
- Counteracting discrimination (gender, age, national/ethnic stereotypes) in the workplace
- Company trade union organization and employer towards technological change at the workplace level (automation, digitalization, robotization)
- Powers of trade unions: the right to determine the working time schedule and leave schedule
- Determining the rules for using the company's social benefits fund
- Regulations on awards and bonuses from the perspective of the management board and the company's trade union organization
- Company trade union organization and employer - information and expectations regarding employment policy
If a student has more than two absences, it is necessary to report the absence to the teacher's office within two weeks of the absence. If there are more than 4 absences, the student will not be classified in the course. If the third or fourth absence is not counted, the absence will also result in non-classification.
