The lecture part of the course concentrates on national and international aspects of social security. Its aim is to familiarize students with the following issues:
● the origins and development of social security
● social insurance
● social rights
● pension schemes
● sickness insurance
● accidents insurance
● universal health care insurance
● unemployment
● family benefits
● social assistance
● social security in the activities of the International Labour Organization
● social security and the Council of Europe
● social security in the EU law
The classes will concentrate on Polish social security, its organization and financing. Also types of benefits within the framework of social insurance will be discussed in detail, as well as social assistance, methods of calculation, qualifying conditions and rules for the entitlement to benefits.

Undertake a comparative analysis of Polish and European solutions adopted in this field, be familiar with the categories of social security benefits, social security law, EU regulations on social security, coordination of social security schemes.

It has the power to practical use of knowledge in the field of entitlement to benefits and the organization and functioning of the system of social security and the labor market
The students should also be able to discuss problems the practical functioning of the system of social security and the labor market.
