Student knows processes of spatial changes of functions and social features of the city, in different regions and conditions in the world.
Student is able to explain social and environmental effects of these changes.
Student is able to interpret the course of change processes.
Student is able to explain the causes of urban sprawl and urban growth in different continents.
Student is able to explain reasons of gentrification, revitalization and urban sprawl processes.
After completing the course -Models of the spatial development of cities, the student knows and understands the models of the spatial development of cities (S2_W01, S2_W02, S2_W09 );
can explain why there are different forms and internal structures of cities shown on models, and can identify and explain the processes and mechanisms that shape the contemporary form of cities. (S2_U01, S2_U02, S2_U03, S2_U08, S2_U09 );
is willing to understand the reasons for the phenomenon of poverty districts (S2_K02, S2_K06)
Assessment criteria
Lectures with presentations. Exam,, mainly based on the material from the lecture. Possibly the possibility to supplement the knowledge with German or English language textbooks.
