Influence of environment on spatial development 1900-3-DSE-GSE
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the method of debate. Students will also learn how to conduct an Oxford debate.
During the first part of the course, students are introduced to the form of debate - students are familiarized with the literature on the subject.
In the second part of the course, students prepare 4 debates. The topics of the debates concern socio-economic phenomena, precisely in the field of economic geography, urban geography, as well as tourism.

Student:
- knows the rules of debate, including the Oxford debate
- is able to collect arguments on a given topic
- is able to present its arguments orally
- can react vividly to counter-arguments
- can make oral statements using their knowledge and the information they have gathered
KNOWLEDGE - the student knows:
1. main research directions and achievements of contemporary geography and relations between natural and social science disciplines
2. latest trends in the development of scientific research in Poland and abroad and applications of scientific achievements in the practice of economic geography and spatial management
3. latest trends in the development of scientific research in Poland and abroad and applications of scientific achievements in the practice of Earth and environmental sciences
Assessment criteria
The final course grade consists of 4 debate participation grades. Specific grading criteria will be presented and thoroughly discussed in class.
