Open source GIS 1900-1-OOGIS-SG
The course is designed to familiarize students with the selected type of GIS software free / Open Source. The classes include practical exercises aimed at understanding the analytical and graphical selected programs and their comparison with commercial software. Students learn about the history of the emergence of free software, the terminology used in this regard, organizations promoting free software and GIS software market. Classes are held in the computer room.

KNOWLEDGE
The student is able to explain the main assumptions of the idea of free software, is familiar with definitions and terminology on the free GIS software and historical conditions of its development.
SKILLS: Students can use the free classes used in GIS programs in the field of acquisition, analysis and visualization of spatial data. The student is able to assess the functionality and spatial analysis capabilities of GIS in free programs and compare them with the functionality and capabilities of commercial software.
SOCIAL COMPETENCE
Understands the need to broaden professional skills and constant updating of geographic knowledge.
