Socio-economic geography and spatial management – discipline seminar 1600-SZD-SD-GSEiGP
The aim of the seminar is to familiarize PhD students with the current state of the discipline of socio-economic geography and spatial management and to identify the trends of its further development. This task will be achieved through meetings with researchers widely recognized as key figures for the development of the discipline. While discussing with representants of various geographical subdisciplines and sharing different views on the position of geography in the contemporary science will allow PhD students to orientate themselves in the diversity of the discipline and to more accurately determine their own role in its development.

Learning outcomes
Student knows and understands the latest achievements and theories in the field of socio-economic geography and spatial management; student is able to indicate the place occupied by his research within the discipline and to elaborate own strategy of scientific development; student is ready to consciously shape his/her research path within the discipline of socio-economic geography and spatial management.
Assessment criteria
Requirements related to participation in the classes: obligatory classes, one justified absence will be accepted
Assessment Tasks: active participation in the seminar discussions and other activities will be the basis of outcomes assessment; in case of correction, an essay on a given topic will be asked from the student
Learning Outcomes Assessment: learning outcomes will be verified on the basis of class discussions
Assessment criteria: both the activity in the discussion and the level of the student’s substantive preparation will be assessed

Readings that expand the discussed problems will be given during classes.
