Academic traditions and social responsibility of legal practitioners 1600-SZD-N-TASOP-PR
The classes are designed to help PhD students in legal sciences at the University of Warsaw to develop a deeper understanding of the discipline's scientific traditions and their own ethical obligations towards society.
At first, the classes will introduce students to the work of some of the most influential legal scholars who have been associated with the University of Warsaw, such as Wacław Makowski, Leon Petrażycki, Genowefa Rejman or Stanisław Ehrlich. These scholars were not only brilliant legal minds, but they were also deeply committed to use their knowledge for the benefit of society.
Subsequently, students will discuss and critically reflect on the impact of the above-mentioned scholars on the development of legal sciences and the shaping of public affairs. This will help students to understand the role that legal scholars can play in society and the ethical obligations that come with that role.
The final class will focus on academic traditions and ceremonies, as well as the content of the doctoral oath (https://radynaukowe.uw.edu.pl/promocja-doktorska). This will help students to understand the importance of upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and to commit themselves to using their knowledge to serve society.
Overally, these classes offer PhD students in legal sciences at the University of Warsaw a unique opportunity to learn about the discipline's scientific traditions and their own ethical obligations towards society. By the end of the classes, students will be better equipped to use their knowledge to make a positive impact on the world.
