Seminar in Earth and Environmental Sciences for PhD students 1300-SZD-SEES
The seminar is focused on developing skills in planning and conducting individual research in the field of Earth and Environmental Sciences, selection of appropriate research methods, analysis and synthesis of the obtained results, their interpretation, and presentation to the wider audience. During the seminar, each PhD student is obliged to actively participate in the general discussion, as well as to present at least one talk during each academic year in the presence of the PhD supervisor. Discussions in a wider audience allow for widening knowledge and abilities of analytic thinking.

On completion of the course, the PhD student:
- is capable of identifying and presenting research topics;
- performs the selection of appropriate research methods;
- analyses individually obtained research results;
- interprets research results and draws relevant conclusions;
- actively takes part in scientific discussion;
- has enhanced skills of presenting research results.
Assessment criteria
- active participation in general discussion
- presentation of individual research topic at least once during the academic year
