Verification and preliminary processing of hydrogeological data 1300-SP-WODHC
The aim of the exercises is:
- to use analysis in a GIS environment to verify the location of a research point and to assess the reliability of the research done;
- to introduce students to the use of spreadsheets to quickly review and manage large data sets;
- to use simple statistical methods to detect outliers;
- introduce students to the rules of quality control of hydrochemical data according to the QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) protocol;
- presentation, by various methods, of the results of water chemistry determinations and their interpretation in relation to the applicable legislation.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
W01 - to an advanced degree, selected problems and research methods in natural sciences, representing basic general knowledge of scientific disciplines relevant to hydrogeology
W02 - theories explaining complicated relations between phenomena and objects constituting components of the natural environment and perceive multiple relations between them
Skills:
U01 - perform and describe typical research tasks individually and in teams
U02 - choose an appropriate methodology to solve a research or design problem and use their knowledge to formulate and solve complicated and non-typical problems
U05 - evaluate and verify projects and tasks done with the use of modern information techniques (e.g. GIS, remote sensing, AutoCad)
Social competence:
K01 - communicate effectively, with the environment, including specialists from various disciplines, in the scope of hydrogeology issues
K02 - improve their professional competence
K03 - verify and respect the opinion of other team members when working in a group
K06 - respect the principles of ethics, in particular respect copyright and related rights, in their scientific and professional activity
K07 - take care of the reliability and credibility of his/her work
