During the lecture, the following issues will be discussed:
- definition of law, sources of law, intellectual property (IP).
- review of legal acts regarding the protection of IP
- copyright and related rights - definitions, procedures, protection
- trademark - definitions, procedures, protection
- the patent, design - definitions, procedures, protection
- competition law and consumer protection law - definitions, procedures, protection
- IP management at University of Warsaw

Learning outcomes
After the course the student should be able to:
- recognize different types of IP rights
- know laws that can be applied in the protection of various IP rights
- know the institutions involved in the protection of selected IP rights
- be familiar with the IP regulations at the University of Warsaw
Assessment criteria
Students will have to solve a series of problem/descriptive tasks. Each task will be assessed on a standard 2-5 scale. The final result will be the arithmetic average of the grades obtained by the student.
The second approach will have the form of an oral exam.
