Environmental Analysis 1200-1ZMASROW6
Systematic errors in the trace analysis of elements and compounds.
The Laboratory for examination of environmental samples. Quality of the laboratory. Determination limit. Contamination free methods of sampling of water, waste water, sediments, soils, plants and animal and human tissues. The preparation methods of environmental samples of biotope and biocenosis: drying, grounding, sieving, extraction. Instrumentation. The choice of the proper analytical method concerning the concentration of analyte. The portable field kits of water, soil and sediments examination. Economical point of view of the environmental analysis. Sampling and analysis of particles in the air. Environmental specimen banking and its role in the environmental analysis. The natural sources of retrospectives samples. Biomonitoring.
ATTENTION
due to the substantive connection with the so-called Biospecialtion and the fact of starting the course from the second week, 2 topics will be discussed first in a slightly different order than the description of the subject suggests.

Learning outcomes
Student should achieve the knowledge of investigation methods of the environment, and of sampling methods of environmental samples, their preparation for analytical research. Student should also learn specific conditions of trace analysis laboratory and the critical approach to analytical results.
Student should also knows the possibility of of compare the results of analytical data with the retrospectiv data described in the literature.
The student will acquire social sensitivity to the threats and needs of researching the natural environment.
