Organic Chemistry Laboratory IB 1200-1CHOR2BL4
Introduction training: purification of 3 organic compounds with the use of crystallization, destillation and extraction techniques preceded by teachers demonstrations. Aftrer finishing this training student must pass test regarding purification methods, basic equipment and safety precausion in organic laboratory.
Preparative experiments: synthesis in sequence of 6 organic compounds with the increased complexity of manual skills.
Before each synthesis student need to pass an oral colloquium from theoretical knowledge of such class of compounds, mechanism of the planned reaction and safety precautions.
At the end of the semester (required completion of at least 5 preparations) students take a written final test in the field of practical and theoretical knowledge of organic synthesis.
