Psychology of contact with a patient and first aid 1100-2BO05
The lecture will be divided into two parts.
The first one will be dedicated to communication with a patient. Various approaches and theories on communication in general will be discussed, including: communication problems, communication styles, principles of effective communication, sources and reasons for poor communication. The following lectures discuss clinical entities with impaired communication, including: strokes, aphasia, and various types of dementia. A student learns to recognize the most characteristic symptoms of these disorders, understands the causes of communication deficits and how to deal with them in order to establish effective communication with a patient. The last aspect discussed in this part is communication with a typically and atypically developing child. Students will be familiarized with the basic principles of communication with a child at various stages of development. Each topic will be supplemented with numerous exercises to consolidate the acquired knowledge.
The second part of the lecture will present the basic principles of first aid. The lecture will be supplemented with an exercise on a phantom.
