Writing mathematical texts in English 1000-139WME
The course programme will consist of a weekly workshop style meeting, centered on different aspects of reading writing mathematical texts in English. In particular, students will be required to read English texts and present them in English in the workshop. At the end of the semester, students submit a short paper (up to 5 pages) based on their planned master dissertation. The mathematical content of the paper is accepted by the advisor of the thesis, and the organization of the paper and the quality of the exposition is graded by the course coordinator. This grade, together with activity during the workshops, is the basis for the final grade for the course.

Learning outcomes
The student learns to:
- use mathematical English terminology both in a passive (reading) and an active(writing and presenting results) way,
- write a mathematical paper in English,
- communicate in English to a broader audience.
Assessment criteria
As mentioned in the course description, students will be required to read English texts and present them in English in a weekly workshop, and at the end of the semester, submit a short paper (up to 5 pages) based on their planned master dissertation.
Class performance will based on attendance and quality of presentations
The paper submitted at the end of semester will be graded on it's mathematical content by the advisor of the thesis, and graded on it's organization and quality of exposition by the course coordinator.
The final grade will based on the two grades explained above.
