Social Science Methods: Workshop 3700-MSNS-24-SSMW
This course provides a practical overview of the main techniques of collecting and analysing data in social sciences. Students will have a chance to get hands-on experience in data collection and analysis through designing their own small scale research, collecting data and doing preliminary analysis.
Each block of the workshop aims to familiarise students with the different stages of the data collection and analysis process. Block 1 focuses on the types of research design and the differences between them. Students will have an opportunity to design their own small-scale study. Blocks 2 and 3 address the ways to collect and analyse qualitative data. In Block 4, students will have an opportunity to add up all the pieces and present the group/individual research project they developed throughout the workshops.
Block 5 and Block 6 explore quantitive data collection and analysis. Block 7 explores the Mixed Methods design.
