Visual and Multisensory Methods in Social Research 3500-FAKANG-VMM
The course is designed as methodological development for MA
students to boost their research skills. During the workshops,
students will get to know some main concepts and ideas guiding
the use of visual and multisensory tools in social research and will
learn how different social sciences (anthropology, sociology or
cultural studies) have approached ‘the visual’. They will gain
practical knowledge of how to work with tools such as film,
photography of arts-based methods, multisensory ethnography,
and others. After successful completion, students will be able to
carry out a research project using visual and/or multisensory tools
and plan the dissemination of research outcomes that engage non-
academic audiences
