(po angielsku) The course introduces the circulation of Roman gold — both coinage and non-monetary forms — with a particular focus on the 4th and 5th centuries. Participants will explore the role of gold coins within the Roman Empire as well as their functions among Barbarian communities, especially Germanic societies inhabiting the regions north of the Danube up to the Baltic Sea. Participants will also have the opportunity to become familiar with Roman coins — learning how to assess, describe, and identify them. The course will introduce the various functions of Roman gold across different communities and explore the diverse dynamics and circumstances of its inflow into Central and Northern Europe.
