Quantitative data analysis and exploration methods are increasingly used in managerial decision making. However, this requires an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of different research methods, the ability to assess the significance and usefulness of various types of data, the selection of
appropriate analytical methods, and the verification of conclusions drawn from analyses. It is also becoming increasingly important to separate the signal from the noise, for example, by identifying attempts to manipulate data presentation or drawing unwarranted conclusions from research findings.
The goal of this course is to develop participants’ ability to use data analysis methods effectively in
managerial decision-making. Participants will learn both basic and advanced statistical tools, practice selecting appropriate methods for different types of decision-making problems, interpret analysis
results, assess their validity and limitations, and recognize potential errors or manipulations in the presentation of data.
