Strategic leadership 2637-EMBA-EN-SL
This course is aimed at stimulating and aiding the participants in the conscious construction, communication and the planning of development of their personal leadership profile (brand). It is planned as a workshop, where the participants will be provided with a (1) selection of leadership models representative to the four major streams of thinking about leadership and (2) the tools to analyse those models with regard to themselves in order to make informed decisions about the type of leaders they want to be and later to clearly communicate those decisions and use them as a rationale for their various decisions.
The main objective of the course is to provide the participants with the scientific knowledge and tested tools to decide about themselves as leaders, as well as to plan their development and self-presentation

1. Students’ knowledge – after the course the student:
● Knows the metatheory of leadership styles
● Knows the XY theory and its consequences
● Correctly uses terms such as management, leadership, leadership style
● Knows at least 1 leadership model representative to each of the four major leadership metatheories
● Knows James Scouller’s triarchic model of leadership
● Knows the role values play in leadership and how values are structures in the Circular Theory of Values
2. Students’ skills – after the course the student is able to:
● Assess their current leadership style and potential based
● Use universal leadership tools: behavioral modelling and reinforcement, challenging status quo, inquisitive problem solving
● Plan their development based on a chosen approach to leadership
● Communicate their leadership style and use it as an anchor to their decisions
● Present a rationale for their leadership style choices in a concise manner
3. Students’s attitudes and ethics – after the course the student:
● Understands the critical role strategic approach to personal development as a leader plays
● Realises the importance of clear communication of own leadership to their relationship and professional position
● Accepts the importance of using scientific, intellectually disciplined and internally cohesive models of leadership as opposed to popular or home-made models
