The European Union in a Changing Global Order: Power, Crisis, and Strategy 2100-ERASMUS-EUCG
The European Union faces a rapidly changing international landscape marked by great-power rivalry, economic uncertainty, environmental pressures, technological disruption, and repeated global crises. This course provides an in-depth analysis of how the EU positions itself as an international actor within this context. Students will explore the EU’s foreign policy instruments, external relations with key regions, and internal debates surrounding strategic autonomy and global responsibility.
The course integrates theoretical perspectives from International Relations and European Studies, drawing on concepts such as multilateralism, power, governance, and regionalism. Through simulations, case studies, and policy-oriented assignments, students will examine the EU’s responses to contemporary challenges such as energy insecurity, migration, climate change, pandemics, digital transformation, and geopolitical conflict.
