Thymidine/alcohol/surfactant/water system studies with UV-vis spectroscopy 1200-PROJ17
I. Theoretical part covers: UV-vis spectroscopy theoretical background: electromagnetic field interaction with matter; origin of UV-vis spectra, absorbance, molar extinction coefficient, the Beer law, the Beer-Lambert law, qualitative and quantitative UV-vis applications. UV-vis spectrophotometer unit and principle of operation. Thymidine - physicochemical properties, surfactants – types and general characteristic, aggregation ability into micelles and reversed micelles, CMC (critical micelle concentration).
II. Experimental part consists of: getting skills in UV-vis system operating, preparation of surfactant and thymidine solutions, CMC detection for selected systems AOT/solvent system, Thymidine spectra registration in the presence of AOT.
