Zespołowy projekt studencki – fizyka reaktorów jądrowych 1100-ZPS-FRJ
As part of the course, a group of students collectively solves a problem/task in the field of nuclear design under the supervision of a tutor. The offered topics are followings ;
(1) Overview of nuclear design
• Description for nuclear reactor components.
• Commercial nuclear design process.
• Computer code systems in commercial nuclear reactor core design.
(2) Nuclear design requirements and limits
• Energy requirement.
• Nuclear design limits as licensing issues : pin peaking factor, burnup, shutdown margin, MTC and FTC.
(3) Nuclear reactor startup test
• Startup test process and reactivity computer.
• Measurement of CBC, ITC and control rod worth.
(4) Fuel batch optimization
• Determination of enrichment, number of FAs.
• Linear reactivity model and optimization theories.
• Computer code run : FA cross-section generation and/or
• FA depletion simulation with various enrichments.
(5) Optimimum loading pattern determination with variable enrichment, height and number of FA.
• Nuclear reactor core modelling using a computer code.
• Computer code run :
Optimum Loading pattern search using the results obtained from step (4)
• Confirm design requirements and limits.
• Prepare project report.
(6) Presentation and discussion
To complete above topics, students will do a team project and share tasks. The aim of the course is to provide students with experience in collaborative project work that they can utilize in their professional careers. The outcome of the project is a joint research report and its defense (presentation). Each team should choose a leader who directs the work and divides tasks. During the implementation of the research project, regular meetings with the tutor are planned to monitor progress in task completion and student involvement.
