second cycle program full-time, 2-year studies Language: English | Jump to: Opis ogólnyThe programme was designed to fit the requirements of the developing work and academic environment and to provide graduates with solid competences that will make them competitive in the job market. The programme English Studies – Linguistics comprises many disciplines, such as sociology, pedagogy, psychology and communication studies. Modern linguistics researches, among others: the relationship between language and the human brain, diversity of language varieties, the role of language in artificial intelligence systems, communication in traditional and modern media, language change, or translation of texts of many types. At the start, students select their MA seminar from the available offer. In addition to the MA thesis related classes, students have the opportunity to take courses and monographic lectures in other disciplines, i.e. literature and culture studies. Students broaden their knowledge of problems within linguistics, such as social and regional varieties of language, multilingualism, communication in a variety of contexts, issues involved in translation, corpus and computational linguistics, language modeling for AI, and others. The diploma they receive upon graduation explicitly states that they are specialists in linguistics. Students also have a chance to get introduced to substantial fundamentals of translation practice, including the translation of literature and of language for specific purposes, and are equipped with soft skills in order to facilitate their successful performance in the job market. As an additional option, students may take part in our teacher training programme to obtain qualifications needed to teach English at all levels. All classes are conducted in English. This programme is full-time, with teaching days from Monday to Friday, and free from tuition fees. The seat of the Institute is the modern building of the Faculty of Modern Languages at 55 Dobra Street, Warsaw. |

K_U01 apply advanced terminology and notions pertinent to the discipline (linguistics, literary studies, culture and religion studies)
K_U02 apply advanced research methodology within linguistics and English studies, respecting ethical norms and copyright law
K_U04 analyze linguistic, literary and cultural phenomena and draw generalizations on their basis in the context of societal, historical and economic factors on an advanced level
K_U07 use modern technology in the process of learning and communicating with academic teachers, colleagues, representatives of various institutions and fellow participants in classes and projects, applying various channels and techniques of communication
K_U09 present knowledge in a coherent, precise and linguistically correct manner in English on level C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, ensuring an appropriate register and form
