Learning outcomes
The graduate has achieved the learning outcomes defined for the study program:
He or she knows and understands the status and importance of theoretical and applied linguistics in the system of knowledge (also with respect to sign language studies), as well as their methodological and subject specificity, terminology, main directions of development and research methods.
He or she knows and understands the culture of the Deaf, its complexity and multifaceted nature, as well as social entanglements, especially the role of PJM in this culture.
He or she knows and understands the applicable legal acts concerning the deaf and PJM as well as the role and importance of state and social institutions dealing with the deaf and PJM.
He or she knows and understands the rules and strategies of inter-language translation, including inter-modal translation.
He or she can use PJM at a level compliant with the requirements specified for level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), including the ability to translate between Polish and PJM.
He or she is able to cooperate and work in a group, assuming various roles as well as leadership (including the role of a translator and cultural mediator). He or she is able to work in a team carrying out research tasks.
He or she is ready to identify and solve ethical dilemmas at work and the dilemmas of inter-linguistic communication caused by asymmetries between language systems and cultural differences.
He or she is ready to take into account in his or her activities that actions taken in inter-language communication should enhance the preservation of cultural heritage, including the heritage of linguistic and cultural minorities, such as the Deaf. He or she is ready to take into account the importance of language for the maintenance and development of social bonds at various levels.
