Dziedzina: nauki ścisłe i przyrodnicze, dyscyplina: nauki chemiczne Studia na kierunku Chemia medyczna to trzysemestralne studia magisterskie zaplanowane są jako kontynuacja siedmiosemestralnych, inżynierskich studiów pierwszego stopnia Chemia medyczna. Koncepcja kształcenia proponowanego kierunku opiera się na dwóch odrębnych ścieżkach kształcenia, spośród których będą mogli wybrać kandydaci. Pierwsza z nich – Od projektowania do wdrożenia leku – będzie skoncentrowana na zagadnieniach związanych z poszukiwaniem nowych leków, ich projektowaniem, syntezą, modyfikacją, analizą, ochroną patentową, badaniami klinicznymi i przygotowaniem do wdrożenia. Druga ścieżka – Nowe metody bioanalizy medycznej – będzie dotyczyła opracowywania nowych metod badania mechanizmów procesów zachodzących w organizmach żywych na poziomie molekularnym, ich monitorowania oraz do zastosowania w szeroko rozumianej diagnostyce medycznej. Z uwagi na interdyscyplinarność kierunku zajęcia będą odbywały się na Wydziale Chemii, Wydziale Biologii oraz Wydziale Farmaceutycznym WUM. Absolwent studiów II stopnia kierunku Chemia medyczna będzie posiadał następujące kompetencje:
Absolwent kierunku Chemia medyczna będzie przygotowany do podjęcia pracy w firmach i laboratoriach badawczych w branży chemicznej, biotechnologicznej, biochemicznej, farmaceutycznej, diagnostycznej, kosmetycznej i spożywczej. Posiadana interdyscyplinarna wiedza i zdobyte kwalifikacje umożliwią mu, z powodzeniem, staranie się o pracę w działach rozwoju, produkcji, regulacji prawnych i marketingu firm i koncernów chemicznych oraz farmaceutycznych, a także kancelarii prawniczych w zakresie ochrony patentowej. |

Learning outcomes
The graduate has achieved the learning outcomes defined for the Medical Chemistry master’s degree program.
The graduate can critically evaluate the results of experiments carried out independently within his chemical specialty, as well as discuss the uncertainty of measurements, can independently plan and perform theoretical and practical research, as well as innovatively solve practical problems not described in the available sources.
Has an in-depth knowledge and skills to analyse chemistry issues and evaluate this knowledge using professional literature, databases and other sources of information, and can assess the reliability of the information obtained.
Knowledge, the graduate knows and understands:
1. has extended knowledge about the place of chemistry in natural and (bio)medical sciences, and about its importance for human development;
2. knows the aspects of construction and operation of modern measuring equipment supporting scientific research in chemistry for biomedical applications;
3. has in-depth knowledge and skills in the field of a selected chemical specialization, allowing the use of methods and concepts appropriate for this specialization and allowing for independent research work;
4. has advanced knowledge and skills in the field of computational methods appropriate for a given chemical specialization;
5. knows the aspects of construction and operation of modern measuring equipment supporting scientific research in a given chemical specialization particularly for biomedical applications;
6. knows the structure, function and methods of making various compounds, molecular target - ligand systems, materials, sensors for biomedical applications
7. has extensive knowledge of occupational health and safety, and in particular knows the rules of safe handling of chemicals, and the selection and disposal of chemical waste. He knows the basic legal regulations related to chemical safety, he is also able to use this knowledge responsibly in his professional work (including risk analysis);
8. has a good understanding of the current trends in the development of chemistry and the latest scientific discoveries in a given chemical specialization particularly for biomedical applications.
Skills, the graduate can:
1. apply appropriate methods, techniques and research tools within a given chemical specialty, necessary to explain the given problem;
2. independently plan and perform experiments within his chemical specialty;
3.critically evaluate the results of independent experiments within his chemical specialty, as well as discuss measurement errors;
4. apply the acquired knowledge to related scientific disciplines, in particular in the biomedical sciences,, as well as work in interdisciplinary teams;
5. use the techniques of biochemistry, molecular biology and use simple biological processes in chemistry and (bio)medical sciences;
6. discuss the place of chemistry in the system of exact, natural and medical sciences, and its importance for the development of our civilization;
7. use specialist literature, databases, patent information resources and other sources of information and assess the reliability of the information obtained
8. present the results of the most important discoveries in the field of chemistry and related sciences, particularly (bio)medical sciences understandably also for non-specialists.
Social competencies, the graduate is ready to:
1. understand the need and know the possibilities of continuous training. Can independently search for information in literature (also foreign-language) and use expert advice;
2. work in a team and is aware of the responsibility for jointly performed tasks related to teamwork;
3. organize own and teamwork as part of the implementation of joint tasks and projects and critically assesses its advancement. It independently undertakes and initiates simple research activities;
4. be convinced of the importance of professional behaviour, adheres to the principles of professional ethics;
5. formulate opinions on professional issues and argue for them, both in the environment of specialists and non-specialists;
6. think and act in a creative and entrepreneurial manner.
