Learning outcomes

The learning outcomes were adopted by Resolution No. 300 of the Senate of the University of Warsaw of 24 June 2026 concerning the study faculty for the Biological Therapeutics degree programme (UW Monitor 2026, item 234), available on the website https://monitor.uw.edu.pl/.

KNOWLEDGE: THE GRADUATE KNOWS AND UNDERSTANDS
K_W01 in-depth molecular mechanisms of action of biological drugs and the chemical basis of their synthesis.
K_W02 in-depth portfolio of contemporary biological drugs and key strategies for their synthesis.
K_W03 in-depth design, manufacture and in vitro and in vivo testing methods for biological drugs.
K_W04 in-depth terminology and key processes and enzymes involved in RNA and protein metabolism.
K_W05 advanced biophysical methods for the study of nucleic acids and proteins.
K_W06 in-depth analysis of the correlations and interdependencies of the cellular processes involved in the expression of genetic information, including co-transcription and co-translation processes.
K_W07 principles for raising research funds, implementing and setting up research projects, protecting intellectual property rights and commercialising research results.
K_W08 principles for creating and developing various forms of entrepreneurship in the country and around the world.
K_W09 in-depth development of biopharmaceuticals and their application in modern medicine.

SKILLS: THE GRADUATE IS ABLE TO
K_U01 design and perform complex experiments, such as in vitro mRNA synthesis, its formulation, and purification of recombinant antibodies.
K_U02 search and analyse literature, databases and use relevant software to design new drugs or preclinical studies.
K_U03 critically analyse the results of multi-stage experiments and re-plan accordingly.
K_U04 take animal tissue samples and isolate RNA or proteins for further molecular analysis.
K_U05 design microfluidic systems for applications in biological research.
K_U06 analyse the RNA-seq data, using selected bioinformatics tools and simplified pipelines.
K_U07 use scientific literature and communicates in English at B2+ level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
K_U08 take a leading role in the activities of teams, distribute experimental tasks within the team and enforce the responsibilities of team members.
K_U09 use modern research equipment (for example, nanopore sequencers, nanodrop, bioanalyser, dynamic light scattering).
K_U10 train themselves, improve acquired skills and support others in doing this.
K_U11 work with health experts to implement and test new technologies.
