Proseminar: Amerykańskie teksty kultury XX i XXI wieku 4219-ZP051
This proseminar offers an introduction to key cultural texts of 20th- and 21st-century America—literature, film, television, and visual culture—through the lens of critical theory. Alongside close readings of selected cultural materials, we will engage with foundational theoretical approaches (including psychoanalysis, Marxism, feminism, and post-structuralism) that shape contemporary cultural analysis. The aim is to equip students with tools to critically examine how texts reflect and negotiate issues of power, identity, and social change. Emphasis will be placed on developing interpretive skills, formulating research questions, and building a vocabulary for independent academic inquiry. The proseminar prepares students for BA-level research in American Studies, with reading load evenly divided between primary texts and theoretical materials.
