Introduction to health promotion and disease prevention for teachers 4100-IVPPZPCH
Particular emphasis will be placed on paradigms and determinants of health, health risks, the concept of health promotion, its assumptions, directions, and areas of action; the relationship between health and healthy lifestyles; prevention of lifestyle-related diseases; promotion of healthy living patterns; the role and tasks of teachers in health promotion; and the planning of educational activities for individuals and communities. Students will explore the determinants of individual and community health behaviors as well as risk factors for lifestyle-related diseases. They will practice using various sources of information to analyze and evaluate health-enhancing behaviors and health risks, while developing materials and interventions in the fields of health promotion and health education.

Assessment criteria
The course is worth a maximum of 50 points. To pass the course, a minimum of 60% of the points (30 points) must be obtained.
Grading Components:
1. Presentation of content from the literature with elements of microteaching (teamwork) – 10 points
The grade includes preparing a team presentation of key content from the literature, developing a health promotion lesson plan, and conducting a selected exercise in the form of microteaching.
2. Health promotion graphic materials (teamwork) – 10 points
Points are awarded for creating creative and effective graphic materials, such as posters, leaflets, or comics, promoting healthy attitudes and behaviors.
3. Final written test (short open-ended questions) – 30 points
The test assesses theoretical knowledge and the ability to apply it in practice through concise answers to short open-ended questions.
Grading Scale:
Below 30 points – grade 2
30–35 points – grade 3
35.5–38 points – grade 3.5
38.5–43 points – grade 4
43.5–46 points – grade 4.5
46.5–49 points – grade 5
49.5–50 points – grade 5!
Attendance policy:
A maximum of one absence is allowed during the course.
