Literature of French - speaking countries for language teachers 4100-IVLITFRA
The classes are devoted to the issue of including literature in the glottodidactic process (for teaching French) at the third stage of education and at universities. The classes will deepen general issues, such as the development of literature and the importance of developing literary competence in the process of teaching a foreign language. Students will be able to learn more about topics such as literature for older youth and adults, as well as the most important selected literary works, including those belonging to the canon. The classes will mainly use prose works, including: of an autobiographical nature. Additionally, methods and techniques of introducing a literary component to language learning at the third stage of education and in higher education will be discussed, including: criteria for selecting materials, literary texts and other materials with literature, types of exercises that can be offered to foreign language learners, developing language skills and cultural competence when working with literature in a language class.

Directional learning outcomes:
Knowledge: the graduate knows and understands
-S_W01: to an in-depth degree chosen facts, theories, institutions, processes,
and phenomena related to field of studies - teaching foreign languages:
linguistics, literary studies which have practical application in teaching foreign languages at the third educational stage and in adult and higher education;
- S_W02: essential terminology relating to: linguistics, literary studies, relevant to teaching foreign languages.
Skills: the graduate is able to
- S_U01:search, analyse, evaluate, select and use information, using a variety of sources and methods, including advanced information and communication techniques, in Polish and in French.
- S_02: individually plan and implement, using also communication and
information techniques, typical and innovative projects connected with
teaching foreign languages in secondary schools, vocational schools, in
adult and higher education and in other educational institutions involved
in teaching foreign languages;
-S_04: apply the assumptions and requirements of the core curriculum for
teaching French at the third educational stage, and the requirements for language teaching in higher education;
Social competences: the graduate is prepared to
S_K01: pursue lifelong learning
S_K03: take responsibility for the promotion and preservation of the cultural
heritage of the region, country and Europe
S_K09: participate in cultural and social issues through the use of a variety of
media
Assessment criteria
Final grade based on:
- regular work during classes in the classroom (preparation for classes, activity) S_W01, S_W02, S_U01, S_K01, S_K03 - 25% of the final grade
- presentation (in written and oral form) on a previously assigned topic; the presentation should contain both theoretical information on the topic discussed and proposals for its use in teaching (specific exercises for FLE students) S_W01, S_W02, S_U01, S_U02, S_U04, S_K03, S_K09 - 25% of the final grade
- regular performance of tasks and activities posted on the platform (implementation of all activities and tasks) S_W01, S_W02, S_U01, S_K01 - 25% of the final grade
- a test covering basic knowledge provided during classes (contains closed and open questions; takes place during the last stationary classes - in the classroom) S_W01, S_W02, S_U01, S_U02, S_K01 - 25% of the final grade
