The aim of the classes is to familiarize students with the specifics of creating a specialized language course based on the methodology of teaching French for professional purposes. This involves analyzing the specific professional and language needs of the course participants, sourcing information about professional situations that constitute the situational context of the course, developing a discursive corpus typical for a specific professional situation, and creating tasks to achieve professional goals in specialized French. The methodology of the classes aims to develop students' linguistic, sociolinguistic, and pragmatic competencies in professional communication in various contexts, taking into account technolects, profesolects, and sociolects.
Student workload for each of the 2 semesters:
30 hours of participation in exercises (contact hours),
30 hours of self-study (preparation for ongoing classes, reporting on progress in developing the specialized French language course, work necessary to achieve the intended learning outcomes).

Knowledge:
Upon completion of the course and obtaining a passing grade, the student knows and understands:
S_W01: in-depth selected facts, theories, institutions, processes, phenomena in the field of linguistics - relevant to the foreign language teaching specialization.
S_W17: interpersonal and social communication processes in French and Polish, their regularities and disruptions.
Skills:
Upon completion of the course and obtaining a passing grade, the student is able to:
S_U01: search for, analyze, evaluate, select, and use information related to specialized language, especially related to the job market - using various sources in French.
S_U07: assess the usefulness of various methods, procedures, best practices for teaching foreign languages and choose and apply the appropriate course of action.
S_U12: formulate and test hypotheses to critically analyze their own actions and identify areas requiring changes in future actions.
S_U17: communicate on specialized topics and argue substantively in French and Polish, using the views of other authors and formulating conclusions.
S_U18: communicate in Polish and a foreign language, conduct debates using various channels and communication techniques, with all participants in the didactic process and specialists in the fields of science and disciplines appropriate for the foreign language teaching specialization, in French and Polish.
S_U19: prepare advanced written work in French and Polish, appropriate for the studied field of study, regarding specific issues.
S_U20: work in a team performing various roles; able to accept and assign tasks, have elementary organizational skills to achieve goals related to designing and undertaking educational activities.
S_U21: express themselves orally and in writing in French and Polish on topics related to selected teaching issues using various theoretical approaches, drawing on the achievements of disciplines relevant to the field of study.
S_U22: present their own ideas, doubts, and suggestions in French and Polish, supporting them with arguments in the context of selected theoretical perspectives and views of various authors.
S_U23: use French at the C1+ ESOKJ level, taking into account the specificity of academic language and school communication language, or English at the C1+ level.
S_U25: work in a team performing various roles; accept and assign tasks, have organizational skills to achieve goals related to designing and undertaking professional educational activities, able to lead a team's work.
S_U27: independently, throughout life, acquire knowledge and develop professional skills related to teaching foreign languages, using various sources and modern technologies (ICT) in French and Polish.
Social Competences:
Upon completion of the course and obtaining a passing grade, the student is ready to:

S_K02: reflect on the level of their knowledge and skills, engage in continuous professional development and personal growth, assess their own competencies and improve skills.

Passing grade: development of a lesson unit for the specialist French language course
The basis for passing in both semesters includes the following elements:
Attendance, punctuality, activity during classes, and systematic completion of individual tasks as part of implementing the main task.
Students are entitled to one justified absence.
2. Tasks carried out as part of independent work and systematically posted on the "Campus" platform: planning and development of a specialist language course for a selected professional group in the form of specialist language lesson plans, considering the logic of actions within a given profession.
Criteria for assessing the specialist language course:
2.1. Reflecting the needs of the professional group - communication goals in a specific professional context,
2.2. Selection of appropriate sources of information,
2.3. Determination of language tasks to be carried out (oral tasks and written tasks: specialist discourse),
2.4. Preparation of various typologically linguistic exercises related to the main task,
2.5. Consideration of a task-based approach.
Percentage thresholds for assessing the specialist course:
60% -68% - satisfactory grade
69%-76% - satisfactory plus grade
77%-84% - good grade
85%-92% - good plus grade
93%- 100% - very good grade

Classes are conducted in synchronous mode in the lecture hall and asynchronously on the "Campus 2" platform. Synchronous classes take place according to the schedule posted on the CKNJOiEE website. Asynchronous classes involve students completing tasks on the "Campus 2" platform. The tasks are practice-oriented and relate to topics discussed in the classroom. Lecturer consultations take place both in person and on the Google Meet platform. The date and time are provided on the CKNJOiEE website. Student attendance in classes is verified by taking attendance and orally confirming attendance. Attendance in classes is mandatory (UW Study Regulations, III. Rights and obligations of the student, Article 19, point 2). One absence per semester is allowed. |
