(in Polish) Językoznawstwo ogólne 4100-IMJO
In the first semester, the aim of the course is to deepen students' knowledge of phonetics, phonology, and morphology from both theoretical and practical perspectives, with particular emphasis on their application in foreign language teaching. Students become familiar with basic concepts and classifications in articulatory phonetics of English and Polish, analyze minimal pairs, and learn to identify and describe phonological phenomena relevant to didactics. Distinctive features and selected phonological processes characteristic of English and Polish are discussed, along with their impact on learners' pronunciation, including the phenomenon of language transfer.
The morphology section focuses on the classification of morphemes, basic word-formation processes, and word etymology. The course aims to develop students' skills in analyzing word structures in taught and learned languages and identifying common learner errors related to pronunciation and word formation. This knowledge supports the evaluation of teaching materials and the preparation of language tasks tailored to educational needs. Special emphasis is placed on the practical use of linguistic concepts in designing teaching activities and fostering pedagogical reflection.
