The course focuses on the development of teaching materials aimed at developing students’ grammatical competence at the third educational stage, depending on the specific variant of the core curriculum and the type of school.

Course Topics

1. Language forms and their functions in the core curriculum at basic, advanced, and bilingual levels.
2. Hierarchization of grammatical structures from the perspective of foreign language teaching methodology.
3. Grammatical structures and the implementation of the general and specific content of the core curriculum.
4. Methods and approaches to teaching grammar at the third educational stage.
5. Development of teaching materials aimed at promoting students’ language use and action.
6. Strategies for correcting language errors.

Term 2025Z:

The course includes training in creating texts with specific communicative functions, using complex language structures to build compound sentences. The aim of the course is the correct application of appropriate logical connectors as well as tenses and moods.

Course topics:

1. Types of texts—communicative functions and linguistic markers.
2. Expressing cause-and-effect relationships in different types of texts.
3. Expressing purpose.
4. Expressing condition and hypothesis.
5. Expressing comparison.
6. Expressing concession and opposition.
7. Expressing doubt and uncertainty.
8. Expressing emotions.
9. Expressing the timing of events: precedence, simultaneity, and subsequence.

Prerequisites (description)

The course aims to develop students’ competence in the didactic processing of grammatical structures and their ability to design teaching materials tailored to the needs of students at the third educational stage in different types of schools.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge
The student organizes the grammatical structures included in the core curriculum at basic, advanced, and bilingual levels (K_W03).
The student identifies the syntactic functions of grammatical structures (K_W03).
The student identifies the type of language error (K_03).

Skills
The student develops teaching materials aimed at developing students’ grammatical competence (K_U01).
The student identifies incorrect language forms and develops corrective exercises (S_U01).

Social Competences
The student applies expert guidance in the field in practice (S_K01).
The student participates in teamwork in order to accomplish tasks (S_K03).

Assessment criteria

Teaching Methods

1. Language task-based activities.
2. Teaching project.
3. Group work.

COURSE COMPLETION

Course completion is based on the following requirements:

1. attendance – students are allowed two absences.
2. Independent work on the Kampus platform (minimum 60%): 25 points.
3. completion of continuous assessment tasks covering specified parts of the course material (minimum 60%): 25 points.
4. Design of a teaching task: 25 points.
5. Final test covering the entire course material (minimum 60%): 25 points.

All of the above requirements must be met in order to complete the course.

Assessment Methods and Criteria
Students are assessed on a 100-point scale, distributed as follows:

1. exercises on the Kampus platform: 25 points
2. continuous assessment tasks: 25 points
3. design and presentation of teaching materials: 25 points
4. final test: 25 points

The final grade is calculated according to the following scale (pass threshold: 60%):

60–69%: 3
70–79%: 3.5
80–85%: 4
86–92%: 4.5
93–100%: 5
