The course, based on the undergraduate curriculum, covers selected works of English literature. It includes short PowerPoint presentations, in-depth analysis and interpretation of selected works of English literature (drama, novel, poetry). The analysis focuses on the historical and literary context, the rhetoric of the text, style and discussion of topics important in the context of British history and culture.

KNOWLEDGE: The graduate knows and understands:
K_W01to an in-depth degree chosen facts, theories, institutions, processes, and phenomena related to the field of studies teaching foreign languages: literary studies, which have practical application in teaching foreign languages at the third educational stage and in adult and higher education
K_W02 essential terminology relating to: literary studies, relevant to the teaching of foreign languages
K_W04 the methods (based on education research), norms, procedures and standards of practice in various educational institutions, including institutions of higher education, related to the teaching foreign languages or social studies

SKILLS: The graduate is able to:
K_U01 search, analyse, evaluate, select and use information, using a variety of sources and methods, including advanced information and communication techniques in English
K_U02 individually plan and implement, using also communication and information techniques, typical and innovative projects connected with teaching foreign languages in secondary schools, vocational schools, in adult and higher education and in other educational institutions involved in teaching foreign languages
K_U03 evaluate and conduct a critical analysis of the quality of foreign language teaching diagnose the needs, abilities and potential of every learner, as well as design and implement individually tailored teaching and educational programs
K_U07 assess the suitability of a variety of methods, procedures and best practices, and select and apply the appropriate approach with the goal of accomplishing tasks and solving problems related to foreign language teaching
K_U13 use their knowledge – formulate and solve complex and untypical problems and perform tasks in an innovative manner in unpredictable conditions through adapting existing methods and tools or creating new ones

Final assessment:
- attendance and preparation for classes
