Practical German for academic communication 4100-IIIMNJNKA
Upon completing the course, the student should be able to participate in discourse at an academic level and possess competencies related to conducting such discourse broadly in both speech and writing. To this end, the course provides integrated training in all language competencies: speaking, writing, reading, and listening, concurrently throughout the semester. The student, upon completing the course, should understand a wide range of difficult, longer, and complicated texts, including specialist, scientific, and literary texts. They should be able to express themselves using complex formulations, construct statements regarding complex issues, summarize information from written or spoken sources coherently, reproducing the theses contained within them.
The student should be able to participate in discussions, presenting theses and arguments, formulating their views precisely, and statements concerning complex issues, developing individual issues within them, and concluding them with an appropriate conclusion. The student should express themselves in speech and writing in extensively constructed texts on complex issues, as presented in studies or articles, logically presenting problems in a clear exposition to facilitate the recipient's understanding and retention of the most important issues. The student should be able to review specialist works and literary works.
The student should be able to take notes from lectures, as well as prepare public speeches, being able to answer questions posed, skillfully managing the time allocated for the speech. The student should be able to create a scientific paper, structuring it in appropriate proportions, able to cite, properly edit the text, build a bibliography, and footnotes.

Assessment criteria
The exercises focus on the reception and production of longer, complex texts, including specialist, scientific, and literary texts. They involve participating in discussions (presenting theses and arguments), reviewing specialist works and literary works, public speaking, rhetorical exercises, and preparation for writing a master's thesis (quoting, editing, creating bibliographies, and footnotes).
Students pass the course by demonstrating an appropriate level of attendance, participation in activities during classes, and passing individual competencies in the following proportions:
Speaking: 25% Writing: 25% Reading: 25% Listening comprehension: 25%
To pass each competency, appropriate tasks will be selected, including written assignments, public speaking, summarizing as part of listening comprehension, summarizing, participation in discussions, etc.
